Oral surgery

At the Cabinet Dentaire de Nyon, we are specialized in oral surgery.

Our approach has always been to reduce the invasiveness of procedures and to improve patient comfort. With over 20 years of experience, we make sure that you no longer have to worry about dental procedures and that you will find the smile you have always dreamed of in our office.

Bone reconstruction (bone graft)

Known by the acronym GBR, Guided Bone Regeneration includes all the techniques and procedures necessary to restore sufficient bone volume for the placement of an implant.

The root of the artificial tooth (implant), like the natural root of the tooth, needs adequate support, comparable to the foundation of a house, which is strong enough to support the construction.

Bone reconstruction in detail

After a fracture or advanced decay, the tooth is not always removed in time and sometimes by waiting too long, the infection can reach the bone and destroy it.

Bone loss can also be due to an accident that caused a fracture of the root and the bone, or to periodontal infection (destruction of the supporting tissues leading to loosening of the teeth).

In all these cases, a reconstruction of the bone is necessary in order to place an implant.

There are many techniques available to reconstruct (regenerate) the bone and it is up to the specialist surgeon to choose the most appropriate method for each case.

It should be noted that bone reconstruction techniques are not compatible with flapless procedures and are only partially compatible with the immediate loading procedure.

Gingival reconstruction (gum graft)

As a result of trauma or infection, the gums can collapse and endanger the life of teeth, implants or simply cause aesthetic discomfort.

There are several procedures that allow you to “straighten out” these unpleasant situations. The most appropriate treatment will be chosen by the specialist surgeon to meet the following objectives

1. restore aesthetics
2. reduce sensitivity
3. Increase the life span of the implant
4. improve the prognosis of the tooth

Extraction of wisdom teeth

More and more often, our jaws are not big enough to accommodate our wisdom teeth properly and, as a result, they grow in only halfway or grow in completely but in the wrong position. This can lead to inflammation or infection in the area around the teeth, cause cavities or push the other teeth out.

Wisdom teeth removal can sometimes be complicated, but with our surgical specialization and many years of experience, we take over and collaborate with other practices to perform the more complex procedures.

Sedation is often an appropriate adjunct to wisdom teeth removal to ensure your comfort during and after the procedure.

Other interventions

In addition to the operations mentioned above, we can also help you with many other surgical treatments, depending on your needs, such as the removal of cysts, lip and tongue brakes, biopsies and apisectomies.
