Bone reconstruction

The tooth is not always removed in time after a fracture or decay that is too advanced to be healed. Sometimes it is left in too long, and the infection spreads to the surrounding bone and destroys it. An accident can also cause a jaw fracture, or a periodontal (gum) infection can cause bone loss.

In these cases, a reconstruction of the bone (the ground) where the root of the artificial tooth (the foundation) will be placed is necessary. The bone can then support the tooth (the house).

There are many different techniques for reconstructing (regenerating) bone – certainly complex – and it is the specialist surgeon who chooses the most appropriate for each specific case.

(Bone reconstruction techniques are not compatible with either flapless procedures or immediate loading)
